Andy Bickmore
British Pilot, 55 years of age.
Despite being interested in aviation from an early age, Andy was in his thirties when he obtained his private pilot’s licence. His passion meant he quickly moved up the ranks gaining thousands of hours to become one of the world renowned aerobatic and race pilots that he is today. Andy’s first aerobatic aircraft was a Mudry Cap 10b, which at the time was a very well respected aerobatic training aircraft. He was later introduced to the Sukhoi SU 29 at its first showing in the UK and with his background as an engineer began to work with an importer of Russian aircraft, giving himself a good platform to fly many types of Yak and Sukhoi aircraft. Andy became a nominated test pilot for the CAA covering all types of aircraft. Andy could now enjoy aerobatics at a new level giving crowd-pleasing entertainment in the air show arena with the formidable Sukhoi 26. Having spent many years at shows with the Sukhoi, he joined an air racing and aerobatic team in 2005 competing against the world’s best pilots. Andy now flies the Sbach 342 and is looking forward to competing in more air racing events and competitive flying events around the world. In fact, with this new aircraft and his amazing aerobatic skills, look out, we will be hearing a lot more about Andy Bickmore in the future! |
