Rolandas Paksas

Rolandas is 54 years of age and has been flying for over 38 years! He is passionate about his flying and has represented a number of different aerobatic teams over the years. He now flies for Global Airshows and is a very well respected member of our Global Stars Aerobatic Team. As well as being the national champion of the Soviet Union in 1980, Rolandas has competed in two World Aerobatic Championships in 1982 and 1984, along with many Lithuanian, USSR and international championships and competitions. Rolandas has won many competitions; he was the winner of Darius and Girėnas cup, he was champion of the Soviet Union in 1980, Multiplex winner of Lithuania and the Soviet Union championships and as a member of Lithuanian team together they won the Spartakiad of the Peoples of the USSR in 1979. Rolandas has flown in many remarkable events, as well as achieving two Lithuanian records. As a member of Vilnius Acrobatic Flying Group, Rolandas made a flight in a YAK- 50 under the Verškoniu Bridge over the river Neris in 2002 which was a record breaking flight. Rolandas has also flown around the world in 2006 with his colleague V. Makagonovas in an SM- 2000 which took 47 days to complete, so you can see as well as being a top world aerobatic champion, Rolandas is keen to push all boundaries in aviation. Throughout this time Rolandas has flown many different aircraft, these include; JAK 18A; JAK-50, 52, 55, 18T; SU-26; ZLIN-50; PITTS; EXTRA; AN-2; W-35A; C-172; M-20J. |
